The plot follows Sam Rogers and Phil Benson, leaders of the human colony, as they navigate the complexities introduced by their new environment and the alien inhabitants. Upon arriving on Sirius XXII, they initially encounter two natives who appear playful and innocent but hint at deeper challenges.
